SMS
SMS is an acronym for Short Message Service. SMS is a facility by which you can send and receive small alphanumeric messages between cellular phones. SMS can be used in any language, but that more or less depends on the handset that you are using and which language your area software supports.
SMS and its uses
SMS permits users to directly send messages to one another without using an operator. (But you have to have a wireless service which is operator controlled) An SMS is a better way of sending messages than say a regular pager as it is a store and forward service, which means that if the end user is unavailable (outside service area, cell phone switched off) the SMS is not lost but is delivered when the cell phone is back in service.Group2call provide two flavors of SMS: Standard and Fast-Text SMS delivery methods. Each method has it's pros and cons which are outlined below.
Standard SMS
This SMS delivery method utilizes the cell carrier's SMTP gateways to deliver your message. It is also cheaper to send a SMS this way than Fast-Text SMS, however it is not as reliable nor is it as fast at delivering your message than Fast-Text. Once we send your message to the carrier's gateway there is absolutely no way of tracking it and each carrier has it's own priorities for delivering your message. All SMS are delivered from yourcallerid@group2call.com.Each SMS sent via this method costs 1/2 message credit.
Fast-Text SMS
This SMS delivery method uses a premium SMS gateway for delivering your messages and is more reliable and a lot faster than the standard method. If you need to send urgent and timely messages then this is the best method to use. All messages are delivered from our short code number 313131.Each SMS sent via this method costs one messages credit.
If you are unsure which method to use please send us your questions to sales@group2call.com and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
